Scientific Research Project on Risk Identification in Infrastructure Projects at UoA

This research project investigates the critical risk identification stage of the risk management process within the context of infrastructure projects. By exploring methods of identifying risks, categorizing common sources of risks, and examining the use of risk registers and knowledge bases, the study aims to improve risk management practices across the initiation, planning, design, and delivery phases of infrastructure development.

Using a qualitative approach, the research combines a detailed literature review with insights from semi-structured interviews conducted with experienced industry practitioners. The findings highlight gaps between academic knowledge and industry practices, offering actionable recommendations to enhance risk identification processes.

The study’s conclusions emphasize strategies to improve efficiency in risk identification, contributing to more resilient and sustainable infrastructure outcomes in New Zealand. This project provides valuable insights for professionals and researchers seeking to optimize risk management in infrastructure projects.
